Giza Pyramids
The Great Pyramids of Giza, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, are Egypt’s most famous monuments. The plateau is home to the three main pyramids: Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, along with smaller pyramids built for the queens. These magnificent structures continue to impress visitors with their size, precision, and ancient engineering.
The Great Sphinx of Giza
The Great Sphinx, carved from the limestone of the Giza Plateau, is the largest ancient Egyptian sculpture. It features the body of a lion and the head of a human wearing a royal headdress. Over the centuries, the Sphinx has lost its chin and much of its original reddish color, yet it remains a powerful symbol of ancient Egypt.
Lunch
We will pause for lunch at a local restaurant, where you can enjoy traditional Egyptian dishes such as grilled meats, rice, and fresh salads. (Drinks are not included.)
Saladin Citadel
The Citadel of Saladin was built by Sultan Saladin to protect Cairo from Crusader attacks. Situated on the hills near the city center, it served as the seat of government and the royal residence for many centuries. Within the citadel, you will also visit the Muhammad Ali Mosque.
Muhammad Ali Mosque
Built in 1848 inside the Citadel, the Muhammad Ali Mosque was inspired by classical Turkish mosque architecture. Constructed from limestone, it features two minarets and six medallions around the main dome, inscribed with the names of God, the Prophet Muhammad, and the four rightly guided caliphs: Abu Bakr, Omar, Othman, and Ali.
Old Cairo
Your tour continues to Old Cairo, home to a rich concentration of religious and historic monuments. Here you will find Islamic and Christian landmarks such as the Hanging Church, the Coptic Museum, the Mosque of Amr Ibn Al-Aas, Al-Azhar Mosque, and the Citadel of Salah El-Din, among others.
After this enriching day of exploration, we will transfer you back to your accommodation to relax and enjoy a peaceful evening.
